Class Description:
This comprehensive Masterclass in writing music for the string family; a choir and the rhythm section takes a in-depth analysis of a song arrangement demonstrating the step-by-step process for arranging and orchestrating a jazz standard illustrated with the full concert score (11×8) and the recording of the song.
Film and TV composers, singers, performers of all instruments and directors gain an understanding of how a jazz arrangement is assembled.
This Masterclass features Grammy Award Winner, Alan Copeland, Sid Jacobs and Pablo Suñé demonstrating the process involved in writing an arrangement of a song orchestrated for the rhythm section, the choir, strings, a trombone and a lead singer.

Who is this workshop for?
Film and TV composers, choir and orchestra directors, singers and all instrumental players, songwriters and arrangers interested in applying these techniques to improve their arranging skills.
Materials: Participants will receive a concert score with the full arrangement (8×11 format) of the song , that will be explained step-by-step during this Masterclass. Participant will also receive a CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE.
Optional: A full size (17×11) concert score, parts and the tutorial dvd they will be available for purchase at the front door.

Instructors:
Alan Copeland:
Known primarily for his vocal arranging, Grammy Award Winner Alan Copeland started his career early on, as one of the choir boys in the famous Robert Mitchell Boys Choir, and performed in several movies such as Going My Way, Yankee Doodle Dandy, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Meet John Doe, he was a member of The Modernaires and was on Bob Crosby’s radio show, The Bob Crosby Television Show, The Red Skelton Show on television. Copeland was the choral director for Bing Crosby’s Christmas television shows for over two decades.
Sid Jacobs:
Sid Jacobs is one of the most highly respected jazz guitarists on the LA music scene. He taught at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Berklee College of Music, in Boston. He developed the curriculum for the Advanced Bebop and Jazz Guitar course at the Dick Grove School and the Jazz Guitar class at the Musicians Institute (MI and GIT), where he continues to teach. Some of the great jazz artists with whom Sid has performed include Harold Land, Eddie Harris, Buddy Montgomery, Joe Diorio, Brad Mehldau, Larry Goldings and Javon Jackson.
Pablo Suñé
Pablo Suñé is a Jazz guitarist, arranger and Board Certified Music Therapist, Executive Director at The Panamerican School of Music. Presently, Pablo works as a musician in the Greater Los Angeles area, performing with his jazz trio with Putter Smith and Ramon Banda. His passion for playing jazz lead him to work with the greateast jazz musicians such as Walter Malosetti, Barry Zweig, Sid Jacobs, Alan Copeland and Jimmy Wyble among others.
